Chiang Mai, Thailand is blessed with stunning natural beauty and unique indigenous cultural identity. It is the economic, communications, cultural and tourism center of Northern Thailand. Chiang Mai is Thailand's second largest city. It is pleasantly located on the banks of the Ping River and set in a green, fertile plain at an elevation of 300 meters above sea level. The average temperature is cool and very pleasant from October to February at about 68 degrees Fahrenheit, hot during March to May at about 86 degrees Fahrenheit and wet during June to September with temperatures around 77 degrees Fahrenheit.

About 700 kilometers from Bangkok, Chiang Mai is situated on the Mae Ping River basin some 310 meters above sea level. Surrounded by high mountain ranges, it covers an area of approximately 20,107 square kilometers. The terrain is mainly jungle and mountains, parts of which are within national parks, which are still fertile and verdant with plentiful flora and fauna. There are many sites and locations where tourists prefer to visit to study the lifestyle of the tribal people who live on high hills. Woodcarving and wood furniture is the number one product of this province. There are many people who work on this field and are well trained. That’s why Chiang Mai is regarded as the center of the Teak wood industry of Thailand.
